## What this checks, and why

There are two doors into business funding, and they open on completely different hinges. Most owners are only ever shown one of them, usually the one the person in front of them happens to sell.

Credit-based funding asks about you: a minimum 680 FICO, an established LLC or corporation, and an EIN. No revenue required. It reaches up to $250,000 and it is sized on what your credit profile says about how you handle obligations.

Revenue-based funding asks about the business: three months of bank statements showing consistent deposits. Your score is not the primary factor. It reaches into the millions and it is sized on cash flow.

The most useful answer this tool gives is sometimes "neither, yet". Applying to lenders you do not qualify for stacks hard inquiries on your report and signals distress to the next one who looks. Knowing you are three months of statements away is worth more than five rejections.
